JULY 2, 1944

To preserve the quality of photos and to make the articles legible, the size of the files on this page is large.  It will take longer for these files to download but they are worth the wait.

This page contains all the material on airborne operations in this edition.  This edition contains much more material on operations in Europe that will be posted at a later date.

These two letters to "Yank" from men and women serving in the theater of operations on the subject of pin-ups were particularly interesting.  When I served in Vietnam, the back page of "Stars and Stripes" typically carried a pinup and we always turned to that page first.  Based on the article above, it appears we were carrying on a long tradition of lonely young military people.
